I Want Out

Just a quick short I wanted to share, I'll return to my other stories soon. Enjoy x

“Hun”, she started as she gazed at herself in the mirror, “I was thinking that maybe I should start working out again? Ya know, start working on losing some of this weight?” She jiggled her belly as if to add emphasis to her words.
I looked up from the laptop I had perched in my lap, “you’re kidding right?”
“No, I’m not kidding. This was all fun while it lasted but I’ve put on 50lbs now and I’m worried about getting really fat.”
I closed the laptop so that I could give her my full attention as she continued.
“I mean, it’s served its purpose right? We started this whole thing when I lost my job as a way to pay bills and now that I have my new job we don’t need to do this anymore.”

Pumpkin Spliced

Here's my little Halloween/Thanksgiving offering to you all this year. Hope you have an enjoyable Autumn.
Blurmy x

“Pumpkin spice season bitches!” The shrill exclamation was met with a chorus of whoops and cheers from the assembled gaggle of plastic posers with their designer handbags and bottle blonde hair, it was enough to make you vomit.

At least these were the thoughts of one Dr Preigh who rolled his eyes at the intrusion. He had just wanted to grab a quick, quiet coffee before returning back to his laboratory but here he was, suffering these airheaded bimbos who only seemed that much more detestable because they were broadcasting their love for his most hated of fads – pumpkin spice.

Oh, how Dr Preigh hated pumpkin spice, he’d never been a fan of pumpkins in general, finding their odor rancid. He’d never liked the act of carving a pumpkin for Halloween and would gag at the thought of eating pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving, he much preferred the sweet taste of cranberry sauce, if there was one Thanksgiving staple that deserved to be everywhere then it should be cranberry, not damned pumpkin!

Commission - The 4AM Stop

It's been a while since I've shared anything for free so here's a commission on the house, Enjoy x

It was a drizzling, gloomy September morning that Marie peered out into as she busied herself cleaning the large plate glass windows at the front of the diner. Fall had officially arrived and the weather had started to turn a bit chilly meaning that customers at this hour had dwindled significantly over the past week or so. Still, it gave Marie a chance to catch up on her revision in between dusting the curtains and polishing the napkin dispensers.

There barely seemed to be anyone out on the roads at all save the occasional pair of headlights that passed by. There was no doubt that this was officially “quiet time” and it made perfect sense that the owner Frank had only scheduled Marie as the sole waitress for the graveyard shift. Not that she got to do much waitressing she mused as she continued on with her list of chores, topping up the condiments back in the kitchen.

She was roused from the mundanity of her task by the sound of the bell ringing above the front door as it was pushed open.

“I’ll be right out” she shouted in a friendly tone as she struggled to screw the top back onto the catering sized bottle of ketchup she had been wrestling with.

What's the Difference?!

Louella was in a bind.

She was once again without a source of income. She hadn’t had a steady job in a good number of years, her attitude and abrasive personality made it so that any retail or food service job that she managed to get didn’t last long, if she managed to blag her way through the interview at all!

Louella hadn’t paid much attention at school so her qualifications were barely worth the paper they were printed on and her attempts to become a beautician had failed miserably after she flunked out of the most basic college courses.

What Louella did have going for her was her looks, she was tall and well proportioned, she had a pretty face and long dark hair. She wasn’t quite billboard quality and a fondness for bad food meant that she carried a little extra weight in the rear and tummy, she’d never be a runway model buy was without a doubt one of the more attractive girls you would see in your day.

She spent her days watching the kids in her family while claiming Universal Credit and coming up with her next “Big Idea” to make herself famous.
